Co-Owner / Psychotherapist — LCSW, RPT-S, PMH-C
Lora Speake is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Play Therapist, and Play Therapy Supervisor who co-owns Mt. Airy Psychological Services. She is also a board-approved supervisor for social workers (LMSWs) and professional counselors (LGPCs) in Maryland and holds certification in Perinatal Mental Health (PMH-C). Lora works with clients across the lifespan, starting with children as young as 4, teenagers, and adults, including mothers, fathers, and men who are motivated to engage in the work of therapy and personal growth. She takes a practical, down-to-earth approach, combining evidence-based strategies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Strengths-Based Therapy with her years of clinical experience. Her background in Play Therapy shapes her understanding of child development and helps families foster positive interactions and growth at home. As a supervisor and practice owner, Lora enjoys mentoring newer clinicians and creating a supportive, collaborative environment for both families and staff.

Lauren Bynum is a co-owner of Mt. Airy Psychological Services and a licensed clinical psychologist with over 16 years of experience. She is passionate about providing affirming, culturally responsive psychotherapy to marginalized populations, particularly BIPOC and LGBTQI+ individuals. Her therapeutic approach is grounded in empathy, collaboration, and helping clients develop an empowered, strengths-based path to healing. In addition to individual therapy, Lauren is a dedicated supervisor who mentors emerging clinicians with compassion and clarity. She also consults with local organizations to support mental health, inclusion, and overall well-being in community and workplace settings. Outside of her professional life, Lauren enjoys spending quality time with family and friends and is a proud plant momma to over 75 thriving plants.

Rosa is a Licensed Certified Social Worker–Clinical (LCSW-C) with extensive experience working with children, adults, and families. She draws from DBT, IFS, and psychodynamic modalities, and has training in Functional Family Therapy. Rosa has supported clients in diverse settings, including acute trauma care, in-home family work, and traditional office therapy. Deeply valuing collaborative care, she prioritizes open communication, humor, and authenticity as the foundation for fostering personal healing and symptom relief. Rosa has experience providing counseling on issues ranging from life transition, anxiety, and depression, to relationship challenges, and parenthood. Her experience in non-traditional spaces has shaped her adaptable, creative approach to therapy, and her time in caregiving has deepened her understanding of the "person-in-environment" influence of family dynamics on well-being. She encourages individuals to creatively honor their unique stories and wisdom through insight-oriented work, mindfulness practices, and strength-based skills building. Outside of therapy, Rosa enjoys listening to spooky podcasts, weight lifting, reading, and camping with family. Available Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Morgan is a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (LGPC) with a background in school counseling. She has experience working with students, families, and school staff to support students' academic, social, and emotional growth utilizing a Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) modality. Inspired to expand her impact, she pursued clinical therapy to work with clients across the lifespan and broaden her approach. Morgan uses a client-centered approach, integrating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and strengths-based modalities to help individuals overcome challenges, build resilience, and achieve meaningful personal growth. She is also certified in Psychological First Aid (PFA), equipping her to provide compassionate, evidence-informed support during times of crisis and distress. Her goal is to create a supportive space where every client feels heard, empowered, and equipped with practical tools for lasting change. In her free time, Morgan enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons, hiking, reading fiction, relaxing by the water, and gardening during the summer months. Available Thursdays.

Dr. Kristen Marsico is a Licensed Psychologist and Nationally Certified School Psychologist. She has extensive experience working with children, adolescents, and adults in a variety of settings including public and private schools, an intensive outpatient behavioral clinic, and private practice. Kristen conducts comprehensive assessments that focus on helping individuals not only identify their challenges but also recognize their unique strengths. She strives to ensure clients feel comfortable, understood, and respected throughout the assessment process while honoring the unique experiences and perspectives they bring. Her practice emphasizes collaboration with families and schools to foster holistic development and well-being. Outside of work, Kristen enjoys spending time with her husband and two young children, reading, and baking desserts.

Samantha Freeman is an Outreach Intern at Mt. Airy Psychological Services and a Psychology major at Hood College, where she is on track to earn her bachelor's degree in 2027. At MAPS, Sam is excited to deepen her understanding of the mental health field by gaining hands-on experience and contributing to community outreach efforts. Driven by a passion for psychology and a strong commitment to mental health awareness, Sam is enthusiastic about supporting initiatives that reduce stigma and promote emotional wellness in the community.
